Can you name any of the people?
I believe this was owned by the Ehler family

Can you name the location?
Finally leaving Pownal

Comments...
The name of the boat supports my guess. The Ehlers built a ferro-cement sailboat in their yard in Pownal in the late 70's and finally towed it to Albany and sailed down the Hudson and to parts unknown.

The boat eventually sank and all was lost

Most boats of this type are at the bottom of some river, lake or ocean. In Panama City I knew of three built and one remains. They were slow, multi heavy and a comfortable ride. It only stands to reason the a porous product has to be kept well sealed and it's a must to have perfect bilge pumps. The cost of maintenance and docking far exceeded the purses of many builders. As a former yatch owner, I realize that it's impossible to fill that big money hole out there in the water as the expenses never end. Much pleasure at a high cost.

Can you name any of the people?
It was Ed Ehler, the Maintenance Mgr for Stanley Tools, in Shaftsbury

Can you name the location?
Ed's yard in Bennington, VT on Rt 7 heading south out of town

Comments...
I helped when they applied the cement which was pushed thru many layers of chicken wire formed over a temp wooden frame. Someone mentioned that it sank. Are there any other details? Ed sailed south down the river from Waterford to the Caribean and I never heard any more about him. It was Ed's dream to sail around the world.
