I think this is someone from Co. K Mass National Guard (Yankee Division patch on his shoulder)saying goodbye to his wife before he boards the train for summer camp at Fort Devens.

With the date of that uniform, I think the guard was training at Camp Drum!!!

Not summer, she has a coat on and it's a late 40's or 50's style coat...also her hair...looks like early 40's.

He is definitely Co K or Tank Co. of the Yankee Division, National Guard. It was in the late 40s or 50s. The units were training at Camp Drum NY and left in the EARLY MORNING, so that is no doubt the reason she has a coat on. Those were the days.

I RECALL MY DIVISION, THE GOLDEN ACORN, 86TH, 346TH INF. REGIMENT REPLACED THE YANKEE DIVISION IN THE ALSACE LORRRRAIN AREA IN FRANCE, WWll, 1944. THEY CAME DOWN THE MOUNTAINSIDE AND WE HAD TO RE-TAKE IT AND SUFERRED MAJOR LOSSES. THIS WAS JUST PRIOR TO THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE. WE WERE SENT THERE ON OPEN FLATBED TRUCKS.
