Barbara Broderick was solected U Mass. Winter Carnival Queen in February 1947. I believe that Randy took this picture for the Transcript in commemoration of this event for a local girl

I believe that Randy took this picture because Barbara had been selected as Winter Carnival Queen at U MASS. Amherst, Mass. in February 1947 and used this picture to accompany a Transcript article about a local woman's achievement.

Barbara was a teacher at the old Sarah Haskins School on State Street. She lived on Classic Ave in North Adams with her husband and three children: Jimmy, Susan, and Laurie.

The year was definitely 1947 that she was named Winter Carnival Queen. It is in the 1947 U Mass yearbook, the Index.
