With the U.S. Air Force folks there and that type of wreckage, i'd guess it was a plane crash... NOT a car crash...

This is a F-86 Fighter that was making a emergency landing at the North Adams airport and skidded off the runway. I believe this is the D version as it was the only one to carry this style rocket pod located tonthe right of the photo.
