This picture could have been intended to illustrate the return to wood-burning during the energy dislocations of the early 1970s.

East Road Adams

This appears to be at home of un-remembered man on East Road, Adams, who fashioned what might be the first log splitter. It was a hydraulic operated contraption that worked well. Unfortunately splitter is not shown in picture but the wood pile seems familiar to me.
