This is the small Railroad Tunnel that runs under West Main St. - Rte # 2 - From looking at the curve in the tracks I would say that your looking east towards the State Park. This is were there was just a derailment a few weeks ago. ( Sept - 2001 ) This is not the Hoosac Tunnel as it is to narrow and not tall enough. The ice still forms there in the winter. I've walked through this tunnel many times in both directions.

Two comments: Guess which comment about this photo causes someone wishing to offer a reasoned response, to reconsider. Second: To all photographers - to preclude the necessity of comment as to identity of people or location, document all of your work upon its inception.

As I am not a lier or a drunk - two things more should be noted about the photo - There is not a brick over lay on the walls as in the Hoosac Tunnel an these walls or just rock whick allows the water inside to form teh icicles. Thank You very much.

If this is the Hoosac Tunnel, it's likely the Eastern Portal before the interior was sheathed in the 90's. The first 500' of the Western Portal is actually a brick 'tube' specially constructed due to the poor quality of granite that had to be excavated until they reach stable, solid rock.
