This was on of the famous floods. I don't remember which one. However, I do remember being carried from Mill Street in North Adams to a bus on Mass Avenue. I was carried either by a National Guardsman or a Fireman. Wow, over 50 years ago.

The floods in North Adams were terrible for many people.. I am old enough to remember the river the way it was, it was lazy and quiet when it behaved and colored from the dyes the mills used, BUT the river turned into a terror when it flooded.I've have seen it rise to the top of the banks in just a matter of hours. The flood chutes are ugly but, they had to do something to stop the devistation.
