Steve's father owned a shoe shop on Eagle St. across from Jack's Army & Navy store. I would put the time frame somewhere around 1970 - 1972. Both Dan and Steve graduated from Drury High School in 1972.

Comments...
Dan and Steve "rediscovered" an old soapstone mine while exploring the hills around the east portal of the Hoosac Tunnel. When Randy heard about our exploits, he and the Hoosac Tunnel reporter followed us to the mine to do a story. I remember the female reporter wore a light dress which, by the time we were done, was soiled and torn. Randy took one look into the mine and handed us the camera as we went back in. The Transcript ran a full page article. This photo was part of the article and was taken at The Rowe Historical Society which had several soapstone artifacts from the mine.
